MUSIC CITY CENTER OFF TO STRONG START IN FISCAL YEAR 2016
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 21, 2015

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Music City Center announced this morning that the building has generated almost $90 million in economic impact in the first two months of fiscal year 2016, which is a 92 percent increase year over year.

The Music City Center hosted 19 events with 115,789 attendees in July and 21 events with 29,829 attendees in August, generating 47,858 room nights for a total of $89.4 million in economic impact thus far for fiscal year 2016. Since opening just over two years ago, the building has hosted 712 events with 1.4 million attendees generating over $735 million in direct economic impact. Tax collections continue to outperform expectations and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 20.42 percent year over year for fiscal year 2015. The Music City Center also had an exceptional year in sales, finishing the fiscal year with over 2 million room nights in future firm bookings through 2026.

"The convention industry is typically slow during the summer months so the fact that we had such a great summer for not only events but also future bookings is a true testament to Nashville's continued strength as a destination," said Charles Starks, President/CEO of the Music City Center. "Our sales team has done an incredible job this year and we are excited to see what the future holds."
